2027 Oscar Predictions From The Odyssey Scoring Best Picture To Penelope Cruz Winning Best Supporting Actresss!

With Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey being released this weekend, to the tune of an estimated $200 million worldwide  opening at the box office, the 2027 Oscar bound films and performances are coming into shape. I have The Odyssey as the early favorite for Best Picture at the 2027 Academy Awards. The high praise among critics and fans call Nolan’s latest epic a fantastic spectacle and some saying the third act is one of the best they’ve seen in all of time. The hyperbole might be grand but to me it is the strongest film of the year when it comes to awards consideration. 

    A very close second that can easily win come Oscar night is the Spanish film La bola negra, The Black Ball. This is seen as the best bet for Netflix to nab a Best Picture win. Something that has alluded them since they’ve gotten into the Oscars race. Lauded for its sprawling story about three queer love stories through 1917, 1937, and 2017 this film gained major buzz coming out of Cannes winning the Best Director prize for Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, know as “Los Javis”. The standout of the film is Penelope Cruz who is among Gold Derby critics and Clayton Davis of Variety early pick to win Best Supporting Actress. She had previously won in that category in 2009 for Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona. Take a look at a list of my other predictions for the upcoming Oscars.
