Oscar nominated and Emmy winning actor Colman Domingo is set to receive the President's Award at the 2026 NAACP Image Awards. The dynamic talent that he is, Colman is also nominated this year for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Director in a Comedy Series for his role in Netflix's "The Four Seasons".
Through the years Colman Domingo has delivered stand out performances that has garnered critical acclaim along with big award season wins and nominations. Colman won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmys for portraying the tough nosed mentor to Zendaya in Euphoria. He earned back to back Best Actor Oscar nominations with his performance in Rustin in 2024 and Sing Sing for 2025. In 2024 he was a double winner at the NAACP Image Awards winning Outstanding Lead Actor for Netflix' Rustin and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Color Purple. When I spoke to him a few years ago he mentioned how internally he was quiet and grateful for his Emmy win. Knowing that he here for the work to serve him and anything that follows is a bonus.
Colman Domingo gives a career defining performance in "Sing, Sing"! Garnering the praises of fellow Oscar nominees like Andrew Garfield. And more recently for this year Colman is highly anticipated as portraying Joe Jackson in "Micael", the Michael Jackson biopic. Previous winners of the President's Award are LeBron James, Usher, Dave Chappelle, and Gabrielle Union-Wade.
BET President Louis Carr had some great words to say about Colman Domingo:
“Colman Domingo represents the power of creativity to bring people together and move culture forward,” “At BET our commitment has always been to community, culture, and connection. Colman’s impact reflects those values in action.”
